I agree with all of that. The worst for me is Antonio who was HOTY. We wouldn't be where we are if he was fit and on form.
Watching him in the flesh v Burnley he is a shadow of himself. I don't believe he is just unfit, he looks dejected as if he doesn't want to be here, also dropped for being late, maybe he has has been tapped up by one of the top six, although he would probably be a bench player, although many think they will improve with better players around them and many do. Bilic playing him at RB then striker, now Moyes playing him LW hasn't helped.
When he was HOTY x 2 if not for Payet at the Boleyn it was because he was played in his correct position as when we bought him RW, this his only position being right footed and that is where it should be insisted that he is played.
To many others like this Lanzini another, like they don't care if we go down as they will be off, these two will be the first with the transfer requests in. Can't see us winning another game unless there is a massive change of attitude sadly.

............................HART.................................
...............RICE KOUYATE OGBONNA.........
...................ZABBA.......NOBLE....................
ANTONIO..........MARIO..............MASA.......
...............ARNIE.........HERNANDEZ............
I think lanzini injured no..?..so put Mario in there!...
Have to play Zabba and Noble as have no other defensive players to choose from!!
we cannot have Zabba and Cresswell playing in a back 3 ..EVER!!
For me kOUYATE a better center half as in midfield his positioning is awful at times but saying that so is Noble's but unfortunately we're down to the bare bones as Harry would say!!

You may as well have selected Irrelevant for the rest of the starting line up too.

Irrelevant
Zabaleta - Kouyate - Ogbonna - Masuaku
Rice - Noble
Antonio - Arnie - Lanzini
Hernandez
Some idiot will say 4 at the back didn't work when Moyes tried it months ago, but we have been complete and utter gash with 3 at the back for months now, so I'm at a loss as to why we have to stick with it, it makes no sens at all, and we don't have 3 fit centre halves. I know Masuaku can't defend, but he's in healthy company on that front with the rest of our defenders.
We need as many attacking players on the pitch as possible, because erring on the side of caution has led to us shipping goals anyway, so we need to outscore them. It's not the time to die wondering, we HAVE to go for it.

One thing which seems to be overlooked by some is they really aren't that great either. They have been given a bit of a boost with Hughes appointment but let's not make them out to be world beaters.
The players don't need telling how big a game this is so they should be bang up for it but obviously if Lanzini is out as being said then that's a big blow. Not had a good season but arguably our best player on his day.

Hernandez has to start. Arnie's wasted as an isolated front man, he needs a free role and its Mario who needs to be on the bench

1-1?
If were conceding 3 and 4 against shit like Burnley and Swansea why do you assume this will be any different?
It doesn't matter who we stick out tomorrow, they're a gutless bunch of cunts who will crumble at the first sign of pressure.

Sir Alf 4:55 ~
While I agree with you 100% about our midfield, you could say the same about all the other areas of the pitch now:-
Goalkeepers Adrian - Pretty decent but ageing & often suffers from drops in form Hart - Not worth commenting
Defence RB (Not really a position that we bother with too much) Zabaletta - Class in his time but sadly, past it Byram - Not lived up to expectations & injury prone
LB Cresswell - Can be good on his day, but not too many of those lately. Often caught way out of position Masuaka - Can't defend & better as a makeshift midfielder
CH Ogbonna - Our only half-decent one but his form has been patchy Collins - Great servant to the club & never lets us down but age has caught up with his hamstrings now, so often out injured Reid - Out of form & almost permanently injured now Rice - Brilliant prospect but hugely inexperienced at this level. Once he is he'll be off to one of the big clubs no doubt Burke etc - none of them are anywhere close yet
Forwards Carroll - Slow, lumbering pisshead who has no reason to get fit while spongeing a living off us Arnautovic - Very impressed with him since Moyes took over, but not a natural goalscorer Antonio - Quick kick & run merchant with no left foot (yet often played on the left wing where he can't cross!!) Grossly overweight & unfit this season. Looks like he's crawled up his own arse Hernandes - good player if he was playing in a better team who could create chances for him (which he certainly can't do on his own) Lanzini - Our only class player but injured a lot this season which has resulted in a dip in form Probably off in the summer Jean-Mario - Looks too lightweight for the prem & gets knocked off the ball too easily. Just a temp
The whole team needs an overhaul. It's not going to happen though, even in the remote possibility of us staying up!

I’m in agreement with SirAlf...it doesn’t matter. We’re gone.
1-1 and more unrest, hopefully.
31pts will be our season total.

That is ultra defeatist. It is still in our own hands of staying up but if we win on Saturday then of course we are in with a chance.
I'll agree with you if we lose on Saturday but you are throwing in the towel too early.

I am not getting too upset by who is available or not now. I am convinced, based on the fixtures left, that we are down thru the trap door with the Baggies. Its who the 3rd club is that is less certain.
We need a miracle like that MOTM display by the post last season in abt 4 of the remaining fixtures.

Re: WHU team Vs Southampton ?

I don't expect it to happen but on the basis of this being a must win game I would go with the following (assuming Collins is out but Lanzini ok) :
Adrian
Zabaleta Kouyate Ogbonna Cresswell
Antonio Noble Lanzini Masuaka
Arnautovic Hernandez
Subs Hart, Evra, Rice, Mario, Fernandes, Hugill
Fernandes or Rice if Lanzini doesn't make it. We will miss Collins for his attitude apart from anything else but if Soton are not playing with a big man upfront then maybe it might not be the worse game for him to miss.
